Mohawks Fall at Oneonta

Jarred Clarksons bases-loaded single off Jason Patten (Radford) with no outs in the ninth sent the Oneonta Outlaws (7-6) to a 3-2 walk-off win. The loss was the Mohawks (7-4) second straight one run loss on the road.

Amsterdam jumped out in front 2-0 in the top of the first at Damaschke Park. Matt Colantonio (Brown) walked with one out and moved to second on a wild pitch. With two outs Jason Brooks (Dartmouth) dropped a double just fair down the right field line. Brian Martutartus (Wagner) singled home Brooks.

Dan Zlotnick (Marist) was spectacular in his first start, going six innings and allowing one run while striking out five. John Luke Jacobs (L 0-1, Auburn) pitched two innings and allowed one run, but allowed all three batters he faced in the 9th to reach.

The Outlaws tied the game in the seventh. Clarkson walked with one out and moved all the way to third on a wild pitch. With the infield drawn in, Derrick Osteen hit a ball right at TJ Spina (Sante Fe) at third. Clarkson was caught in a pickle and kept it going long enough for Osteen to come all the way to third. Matthew Scruggs singled home Osteen. Osteen also robbed the Mohawks of a run in the top of the fifth with a charging barehanded play at short to end the inning.

Kevin Dickey (W 1-0) picked up the win with three scoreless innings out of the pen for Oneonta.

The Mohawks have an off day Monday then play 10 straight days, starting Tuesday night at Shuttleworth Park. First pitch against Watertown is 7:05.
