Bouthilette No-hits Watertown

Sean Bouthilette (W 2-0, Kentucky) threw a rain-shortened five inning no-hitter as the Mohawks (8-4) bounced back from a pair of losses to beat Watertown (8-7) 7-0.

Just six days after throwing five hitless innings in Watertown, Sean Bouthilette shut down the Wizards for five innings at Shuttleworth Park. The offense bounced back from a poor weekend to put the Mohawks back on the winning side.

After Bouthilette induced three grounders in the top of the first, Mel Rojas Jr. (Wabash Valley CC) beat out an infield hit. Rick Pacione (Marist) then walked, and after a double steal, Jon Schwind (Marist) hit a three-run home run, his first of the year. Matt Conway (Wake Forest) doubled and scored in the four-run frame.

With two outs in the fourth, Luke Maile (Kentucky) and TJ Jones (Cincinnati) hit consecutive doubles followed by Kyle Koenemans (LSU) first home run to make it 7-0, the eventual final tally.

Bouthilette allowed three walks and hit two batters, but Maile erased two of the runners with his arm. He picked Robby Gilles off first to end the second inning and threw out Brady Wilson at second to end the third.

The game was briefly halted with two outs in the fourth, but after a short delay Jon Bowron flew out to make it an official game.

Bouthilettes no-hitter is the third for the Mohawks since the start of the 2006 season and the second during Keith Griffins time as manager. Dave Filak (Oneonta) threw a seven-inning no-hitter at Glens Falls last year.
