Mohawks Snatch 4-3 Win
The Mohawks (12-7) pushed across a run in the bottom of the seventh to break a 3-3 tie and Abram Williams (Radford) worked two scoreless innings, scattering four hits for his sixth save. Watertown (10-11) briefly tied the game in the seventh in a game that started as a pitchers duel.
Watertown struck first against Justin Van Grouw (Wake Forest), turning back-to-back doubles into a run in the top of the third. That was all the Wizards would manage against the righty. Van Grouw pitched six strong innings and got a no decision, striking out seven.
Doubles by TJ Jones (Cincinnati) and John Schwind (Marist) knotted the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the third. In the fifth Mel Rojas scored on an error to give the Mohawks the lead. Schwind reached on the play and scored two batters later on Rick Paciones (Marist) sacrifice fly.
After Adam Windsor (Alabama) walked the bags full with no outs in the seventh, Sam Kidd (Kentucky) came in. After allowing an RBI single, Kidd got a double play that allowed the tying run to score. After a hit by pitch, Larry Balkwill lined a two-out pitch into center with two outs that Rojas dove to snare to preserve the tie.
Brian Martutartus Wagner) brought Schwind home from third on a safety squeeze in the bottom of the frame. Scott Whitehead took the loss in relief after Ryan Poplawski was let off the hook.
The Mohawks make their first trip to Albany tomorrow to take on Albany. The Dutchmen are in last place in the NYCBL East. First pitch is 7:05
