Mohawks Top Albany 5-2

Sean Bouthilette moved to 3-0 on the season, striking out 10 batters through five innings as the Mohawks beat Albany 5-2. Cody Kulp socked his fourth home run of the season to take over the team lead. Albany joins Watertown and Albany as teams the Mohawks have clinched the season series against.

The game started as a pitchers duel between Sean Bouthilette and Albanys Shane Stancill. In the bottom of the fourth Albany took the lead as Jordan Stouffer hit an opposite field solo-shot, his league-leading sixth home run of the season.

Albanys lead was short-lived. The Mohawks loaded the bases with one out in the top of the fifth. Stancill got Matt Colantonio to pop out, but reigning NYCBL Player of the Week Jon Schwind singled home a pair for a 2-1 lead the Mohawks would not relinquish.

Kulp pushed the lead to 3-1 leading off the sixth. In the seventh, Jason Brooks doubled home Colantonio, then scored when Kulp started a long rundown between first and second.

Matt Conway pitched three innings in relief, allowing only a solo home run to Brett Thomas. Abram Williams worked a one-two-three ninth inning for the save. The Tribe out-hit Albany 11-6 while playing errorless in the field.

The Mohawks play Wednesday on the road at Oneonta. The game is a makeup for the game that was rained out June 7th. First pitch at Damashcke field is 7:05.
