Tribe drops a pair

The Mohawks suffered two 2-1 defeats in a double header against the Cooperstown Hawkeyes Saturday night at Shuttleworth Park. Sean Bouthilette (Kentucky) and John Luke Jacobs (Auburn) each pitched well, but picked up tough-luck losses.

The Mohawks never led in either game. Cody Kulp (Shippensburg) led the offense, picking up his sixth home run in game one and doubling in both games. Kulp scored the tying run in the sixth inning of the second game on a game-tying single by Taylor Lewis (Maine). Matt Colantonio (Brown) got his first extra-base hit of the season, a double in the ninth inning of the second game.

Four Mohawks were thrown out over the course of the two games. Luke Maile (Kentucky) was tossed after a collision at home plate in the first game. Jason Brooks (Dartmouth), manager Keith Griffin, and Sam Kidd (Kentucky) were all ejected during the sixth inning of the second game.

The Tribe will be off until after the All Star Game. Jon Schwind (Marist), Brooks, Abram Williams (Radford) and Colantonio will represent the Mohawks in the game. Oneonta comes to Shuttleworth Park for post-break action on Tuesday night at 7:05.
