Tribe Trumps Cooperstown

The Mohawks (21-12) won at Doubleday Field for the fourth time this season, homering three times in a 10-3 win. Amsterdam sits alone atop of the NYCBL East Division with nine games left to play.

Jon Luke Jacobs (Auburn) was dominant on the mound, recording the first eight outs of the game on strikeouts. Jacobs allowed one run while striking out 12 in seven innings. Only one Cooperstown batter avoided striking out against Jacobs.

Rick Pacione (Marist) and Cody Kulp (Shippensburg) opened the scoring with back-to-back solo home runs in the second inning. Kulps seventh of the season puts him in a tie for the league lead with Albanys Jordan Stouffer. In the third and fifth the Tribe tacked on two runs each. Taylor Lewis contributed to both rallies with a single and a double.

In the eighth Pacione picked up his third hit, and was followed by Kyle Koenemans (LSU) fourth homer of the summer. Taylor Lewis doubled again in the ninth to spark the fifth two-run inning of the game.

The Mohawks trek to Glens Falls Monday night for their fifth meeting with the Golden Eagles. First pitch at East Field is 7:05.
