Glens Falls gets nothing vs. pen

The Mohawks (22-12) won a fifth straight game for the third time this season, blanking Glens Falls (15-17) 5-0. The Mohawks entered the game without a regular starting pitcher, but that hardly mattered as four arms teamed on a five-hitter.

Adam Windsor (Alabama( started and worked a predetermined four innings to get the win. Windsor allowed only one hit while whiffing four and walking three. Derek Zielinski (Le Moyne) pitched the fifth and sixth, Justin Van Grouw (Wake Forest) the seventh, and Abram Williams (Radford) finished the game.

Amsterdam took the lead on the second batter of the game as Cody Kulp (Shippensburg) launched his league-leading eighth home run off Clay Murphy. Kyle Koeneman (LSU) decided to join Kulp as Mohawks homering for a second straight day, jumping on the first pitch of the second inning.

Sam Kidd (Kentucky) went 2-4 with an rbi single. Taylor Lewis (Maine) doubled and tripled leading off the fifth and seventh innings, respectively. Kulp singled him home each time.

Defensively, the Tribe turned three double plays to help secure the shutout. The Mohawks take the lead in the season series three game to two as a result.

Mohawk Valley comes to Amsterdam Tuesday night for a showdown at Shuttleworth. The Diamonddawgs lead the season series three games to two. First pitch is at 7:05.
