Wizards Don't Measure Up
Dj vu was the order of the day in Watertown (14-22) as the Mohawks (25-12)thrashed the Wizards 9-0. Just a week after Kyle Hunter (Dartmouth) lost a no-hitter with two outs in the ninth, Dan Zlotnick (Marist) carried a hitless gem through eight and a third before a Ben Kincaid single broke it up.
Zlotnick faced four over the minimum, pitching six one-two-three innings. The lefty whiffed six Wizards on the night. Jason Patten got the final two outs of the game with a double play grounder on the first pitch he dispensed.
The Mohawks opened the scoring in the second when Brian Martutartus (Wagner) singled home Cody Kulp (Shippensburg). An rbi groundout cashed in another run in the third, and increased Jon Schwinds (Marist) league-best rbi total to 35.
The Mohawks broke the game open late. Kyle Koeneman (LSU) tripled home Cody Kulp with on out in the sixth. One pitch later Jason Brooks (Dartmouth) singled home Koeneman.
In the ninth the Tribe made it a route, scoring five runs. Brooks singled with the bases loaded for two more scores.
A trip Friday to Albany is up next for the Mohawks, who now lead Oneonta by three games in the standings. First pitch at Bleecker Stadium is 7:05.
