Box Score

Dakota Duffalo went 4-for-4 and Marek Houston made his Mohawks debut with a double and a triple in an 18-0 win over the Glens Falls Dragons on the Fourth of July at East Field.

Fresh off Wake Forest’s run to Omaha in the College World Series, Marek Houston made his Mohawks debut batting eighth and playing shortstop. He immediately got to work with an RBI double in his first at-bat driving in Dakota Duffalo (Utah) in the second inning. Luke Zeisloft (Maryland) returned to the lineup and followed with a sac-fly to left which scored Mason Swinney (Alabama) and put the Mohawks up 2-0.

The Mohawks offense exploded for 6 runs in the third as Jalen DeBose (FAU) and Bruer Webster (Utah) each singled to start the inning. Jaxson West (Alabama) and Luke Longo (NJIT) followed and were each hit by a pitch which forced in DeBose. Bryce Hubbard (Mississippi State) followed with a double off the wall in left which drove in Webster and West. Dakota Duffalo finally made the first out of the inning, but it was a sac-fly which drove in Longo. Bryce Hubbard scored on a passed ball and after a walk to Mason Swinney, he scored on an error at short which allowed Maximus Martin (Rutgers) to reach base and made the score 8-0.

In the fourth, Dakota Duffalo drove in Luke Longo with a single. Then Marek Houston and Luke Zeisloft each walked with the bases loaded to force in Bryce Hubbard and Dakota Duffalo to make it 11-0.

In the sixth, Marek Houston hit a sac-fly to center driving home Bryce Hubbard and Dakota Duffalo scored on a passed ball making it 13-0.

The Mohawks added 5 more in the seventh and final inning as Eddie Yamin (Dayton) drove in Carlos Martinez (Pitt). Bryce Hubbard reached on an error in center which allowed Jared Johnson (Brown) to score. Dakota Duffalo was thrown out trying to extend a single into a double, but not before Eddie Yamin and Bryce Hubbard scored. Then Mason Swinney and Marek Houston hit back-to-back triples which drove in Swinney and made it 18-0.

On the mound Brandon Peterson (NJIT) improved to 2-0 with 5 scoreless innings, allowing 4 hits and 3 walks with 5 strikeouts. Gio Conte (UConn) went the last 2 allowing no hits and 1 walk with 3 strikeouts.

Antonio Hicks (Central Connecticut) took the loss falling to 1-1 on the season as the Dragons fell to 9-12 on the season.
