The Amsterdam Mohawks pulled away from the Glens Falls Dragons in the final innings to get back in the win column with an 8-2 triumph on Monday night at Rao Family Stadium.

Evan Siary (Mississippi State) started on the bump for Amsterdam, his seventh of the season and second against Glens Falls. After allowing a hit to the leadoff batter Zander Teator (Babson), the right-hander settled in by retiring the next three in the opening frame.

Billy Canale (Le Moyne) was the starting pitcher for Glens Falls, making his sixth appearance and third start of the summer. After a 1-2-3 first inning and scoreless second, Canale first ran into trouble in the third. Jaxson West (Alabama/Florida State) was walked with one out, Marek Houston (Wake Forest) singled and Gage Miller walked with two outs to load the bases. While Zach Eldred (Brockport) was at the plate, a passed ball allowed West to score from third to give Amsterdam a 1-0 lead.

In the fourth inning, Cam Gurney (Utah) led off with a single. Then, Dakota Duffalo (Utah) reached on an error, advancing Gurney to second. Jalen Debose (Florida Atlantic) delivered a single that brought Gurney home to double the lead. Billy Canale’s night ended after the fourth as he allowed two runs (one earned) and four hits with four walks and one strikeout.

In the top of the fifth, unexpected rain came through Amsterdam, causing a brief delay of under 10 minutes. After the heavy rain passed through, play resumed and Jedadiah Trudeau (Dominican) replaced Canale in the bottom of the fifth, making his 10th appearance of the season.

In the sixth inning, Cory Listing (Coker) led off with a home run to left field for Glens Falls, cutting Amsterdam’s lead in half. Moments later, Zander Teator was walked and Odilio Cespedes (Bryant and Stratton) singled to put two runners on base. Then, Ryan Grace (Colby) delivered a two-out double to drive in Teator from second and tie the game at 2-2. Evan Siary was taken out after the sixth, allowing five hits and two runs with two walks and five strikeouts.

In the bottom of the frame, the first two batters were retired before Jalen Debose notched a single. After Debose stole second, Jaxson West also singled to score Debose and restore a 3-2 lead for the Mohawks. Marek Houston tallied the third consecutive single, advancing West to third. That was followed by a bases-clearing double from pinch hitter Bruer Webster (Utah) to extend Amsterdam’s lead to 5-2. After finishing out the sixth, Jedadiah Trudeau was taken out, conceding four hits and three runs in two innings with a walk and no strikeouts.

Joey Colucci (Maryland) replaced Siary on the mound for Amsterdam in the seventh, making his eighth appearance of the campaign.

Andrew Kramer (Lock Haven) entered in the seventh for Glens Falls, appearing in his seventh game this season. After retiring Zach Eldred, Luke Longo (NJIT) hit one through the left side of the infield for a single. During Cam Gurney’s plate appearance, Longo stole second. Gurney struck out for the second out but a popup from Dakota Duffalo was dropped, allowing Longo to score.

In the eighth inning, Marek Houston registered his third hit of the night with another single. With two outs, Gage Miller (Bishop State CC) and Zach Eldred were hit by a pitch to load the bases. Luke Longo followed that up with a single to score Houston and Miller, making it 8-2. That is when Andrew Kramer was pulled, allowing four hits and three runs (two earned) with a walk and a strikeout in 1 ⅔ innings. Michael Magliocca (New College of Florida) replaced him and only needed one pitch to end the inning as Cam Gurney flew out to left field.

Maximilian Ramirez (Niagara) was called upon to close out the game for the Mohawks, making his ninth appearance of the summer. The right-hander retired the side in order, to secure Amsterdam’s 30th win of the season.

After a loss to Watertown on Saturday, Amsterdam’s bats came alive as Luke Longo, Jalen Debose, Jaxson West and Marek Houston all recorded multiple hits. Houston was the lone player with three hits, going 3-for-3 with a walk and two runs. The Mohawks outhit the Dragons 12-5.

Jedadiah Trudeau suffered the loss, dropping to 0-4. The Dragons have now lost six games in a row and fell to 11-19 with the result. Glens Falls has an off day on Tuesday and aims to end the losing skid on Wednesday against Mohawk Valley on the road at 6:30.
